So I have a section here for things that I’ve liked but had to cut. Check it out.
I’ve decided to announce each mournful passing here because it gives me an excuse to post and it feels like a little bit of a ceremony and hot damn do I love ceremony. This one is from a story about vampires. Not your walking, talking charming and dead sexy vampires. These are animals. I’ve decided to try a little bit of horror writing. I love reading the genre and hadn’t really given it a go before. I’m no stranger to darker tones and content, but this is new and fun.
Well, my poor protagonist Hara spots some vampires lurking in a parking garage, trapped by sunlight. The sun is quickly going down and both Hera and the vampires know it won’t be long until darkness comes. I thought it might be a nice moment to have Hera curse them out a bit before running for her life. I then decided that the vampires in my story aren’t going to be all that bothered by sunlight and the scene stopped making sense but it worked better for the story and the scene had to go. So, if you wouldn’t mind starting up the bagpipes, here is today’s Dead Darling:
“She picks up a shard of glass the size of a dinner plate and hurls it at them. The glass wobbles to the left and misses miserably. None of the monstrosities flinch. A spray of tinkling diamonds sparkle in the fading sun, reminding Hara of her bare feet.”
